Showers of beauty

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Last night, I finally broke out my photos to put up in the living room.  I finished up my collage frame of family members and put finally put M's 2 and 3 year old pictures in his collage frame.  I rotated out his picture in the family picture frame.  By the time I had finished all that and had hung some of the pictures, it was dusk.

We heard the muffled booms inside the house and finally ventured outside to discover that with the open field across from us, we had a very good view of the fireworks display at the mall about three miles away.  B lowered the tailgate on his truck, and we all sat on the tailgate and watched the fireworks light up the sky.

As you can imagine, M ooh'ed and ahh'ed over the fireworks.  He commented on how pretty they were.  We watched the fireworks for about 30 minutes, and then we ventured back inside to enter into peaceful slumber only to have that slumber interrupted with nature's fireworks--lightning and thunder.

From our family to yours, we hope you have a happy and safe Independence Day.

And they sleep

I got home yesterday afternoon, and much to my chagrin, I was still quite tired. I came home to find that B wasn't feeling well either. He was kind of in a mood, so around 8:00 to 8:30, I told M to come to mommy's room and we would watch cartoons together. I know it wasn't long and I was asleep.

Isn't it amazing how when we are young and in college, we can stay up until 3 or 4 in the morning or sometimes even all night, and it doesn't seem to phase us? You get a job, start a family, and you essentially become the parents that you didn't understand when you were little.

I remember when I was around 9 or 10 and my parents would go back to their room to take a nap, and my brother and I both thought they were nuts. Now, there are Saturday and Sunday afternoons when I am praying to G-d for M to go to sleep and begging M to close his eyes...all so I can get some sleep.

Back to the original thoughts....
Well, I'm awake now and the boys are still asleep in my bed. M is cuddled up against B, and they are both snoring. M's snore is oh so soft and begins just where B's ends. It's moments like those, when you are looking at the two men in your life that hold your heart in their hands, sleeping so peacefully, and you remember just how blessed you are and thank G-d for your life.

As I quietly closed the door to let them sleep, I heard a sigh from M. I pray his dreams are peaceful.

Just call me "Droopy"

Do you remember the cartoon dog, Droopy? I tell you, this is me today. Exhaustion kicked in about an hour ago. Now I'm sitting here at my desk with another good 4 hours to go, and I just can't seem to keep my eyes open and I have what seems to be a permanent case of the yawns.

If you know me and you happen to be watching me at work, come poke me and make sure I am awake.

*yawn*

A morning of accidents

It started around 4:30 this morning. I was awakened by M standing on my side of the bed crying. "Mommy, I peed on my crouton." I assured him that it was ok, and I crawled out of bed. (Brag moment: This is the second nighttime accident since he has been fully potty trained. Isn't that great?!??!) I manuevered the toy-strewn floor of his room to his dresser and got him a new pair of underwear and took him to the bathroom and stripped his wet clothes off him. I made him go potty and helped him into fresh underwear and brought him back to bed with me. I checked his bed, and it wasn't wet, so I just think he tried to get up to go (Yippee!) and didn't make it.

Later....

I had to stop into Wally on the way into work to pick up a snack for a going away party for a co-worker. While I was there, I got M a bottle of chocolate milk and a doughnut and one for my mother as well. On our way into Tulsa, M kept flipping the chocolate milk bottle upside down. I told him to stop because he was going to spill it and that next time I was going to take it away. Not more than a minute had lapsed when he spilled three-quarters of a bottle of chocolate milk in the car. He started crying and asked me to pull the car over. I told him to use the blanket (I keep a blanket in the car for him to cover up with when he is napping) to clean up the mess. We were just past Hwy 20 and almost to Memaw's.

So, I didn't get into work until 9:00 today because I had to get the car seat out of the car and clean the car and such before I came into work. You can't not clean milk out of your car in OK during the summer. It's not like it was a soda, KWIM?

Anyone need a three year old for entertainment over the holiday weekend? He really is a lot of fun!

Gerald Green

Last post for today...I promise.

I can't finish out the day without posting on Gerald Green. Gerald Green signed a LOI to play of Oklahoma State, but then he decided to go pro instead and signed an agent.

On behalf of the Oklahoma State fan base, may I just say...

I think it's hilarious that you weren't the first high school draft pick. I think it's even MORE hilarious that you weren't even number two. And I am absolutely giddy that Joey Graham went before you.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, you traitor! Doggin' my 'Pokes like that!

(Did I mention that I don't think anyone should be able to be a professional athlete (MBA, NFL, NASCAR Nextel, MLB, etc.) unless you will be 21 before the calendar year is over?)

GO POKES!
