Ok, I know the girls of the 80s remember Aquanet. It was the must have hairspray to do the big bangs of the 80s. What spawned this post about Aquanet? Well....
TMI, yes I know, but I was in the bathroom earlier this afternoon. I spend at least 30 minutes a day in there now that I am pregnant. Well, while I was in there, in walks Ms. Big Hair as I call her with her can of hair spray.
This lady isn't much older than me (in her late 20s-early 30s). Her ritual consists of whipping out her pick to fluff and ratt her hair and then to spray her hair a minimum of 15 times with a can of hairspray that would make even a non-preggers gag. I'm washing my hands during this afternoon ritual (she does this twice a day), and I'm literally holding my breath b/c I can't breath anyway.
I wanted to tell her to invest in some Aquanet, but alas....do they even have the stuff anymore? Probably not because I can't find it online.
Woe is me or anyone else in the ladies room her on my floor during the big hair ritual.
GAG!

Mother's Day funnies
What Moms REALLY want for Mother's Day
10) To be able to eat a whole candy bar by herself, and drink a glass of Coke without any "floaters".
9) To have my 14 year old answer a question without rolling her eyes in that "Why is this person my mother?" way.
8) Five pounds of chocolate that won't add twenty.
7) A shower, without a child peeking through the curtain with a "Hiya, Mom" just as I put razor to my ankle.
6) A full-time cleaning person, who looks like Brad Pitt.
5) For my teenager to announce, "Hey, Mom! I got a full scholarship and a job all in the same day!"
4) A grocery store that doesn't have candy/gum/cheap toys displayed at the checkout line.
3) To have a family meal without a discussion about bodily secretions.
2) To be able to sit down on a plane with my toddlers and not have some pencil-neck-yuppie moan, "Ohhh, nooo! Why me?"
1) Four words: Fisher Price Play Prison.
Mother's Day Breakfast
Two children ordered their mother to stay in bed one Mother's Day morning. As she lay there looking forward to breakfast in bed, the smell of bacon floated up from the kitchen.
But after a good long wait she finally went downstairs to investigate. She found them both sitting at the table eating bacon and eggs.
"As a surprise for Mother's Day," one explained, "we decided to cook our own breakfast."

Potty Training & Captain Jack
I know it’s been a long time since I’ve written. I’m just entering my second trimester and I’m starting to get my wind back. Thank goodness! For some reason, I have had heartburn very early with this pregnancy, and the doctor ended up prescribing Zantac OTC, and boy, that has made all the difference. Anyway, here is the latest on our front.
We are finally making decent progress on potty training. What we have been doing is buying M a big toy to earn like a new light saber or new ship, etc. and we give him one sticker for each time he goes potty (peeing has never been the problem here) and one sticker for staying dry all day. So on a good day, he earns 3 stickers toward his prize with 20 stickers usually being the earning price. I am happy to say we are having relatively few problems. Yeah! He just might be out of pull-ups before the kiddo arrives in October.
Now for a funny story.
Pepaw has been allowing M to play with a cheap scope he had from a gun. M asked Pepaw where he got the scope, to which Pepaw told him he stole it from a pirate. So, for the last two weeks or so, M has really gotten into playing pirates.
B went to the race in Texas, so it was just M & I last weekend. I took M to Memaw and Pepaw’s to play and visit and we ended up staying overnight. Well by the time we got home Sunday, M was covered in dirt and he had a little accident, so I threw him in the tub. I washed his hair and scrubbed him good and then I went to unload the dishwasher quickly why he played. M got out of the tub and came to me and I noticed the towel I had put out was very wet in spots. I went to hang it up over the shower curtain to dry before I put it in the hamper only to find….
My bathroom floor was covered in water! We have two bathmats in the bathroom. Both had water just running off of them when I pulled them up. I threw those in the laundry basket and took them to the washer. I had to use three more bath towels to clean up the water on the floor. The standing water in the laundry basket required another bath towel. It turns out my wonderful little boy thought he was Captain Jack and the boat, er, tub in the case, was taking on too much water. He bailed water into my bathroom floor using the cup we use to rinse his hair.
I was upset at the time, but it was truly funny. What an imagination!

Evil things
They come packaged in little boxes and are panhandled by little girls with cute smiles or the parents of those girls. There are various varieties and we each have at least one favorite, but for the most part we just can't choose between the varieties so we buy more than one. They are actually overpriced, but we purchase them anyway b/c the money goes to a good cause. They sit there, calling our name, saying, "Eat me! Eat me!"
Yes, it's Girl Scout cookie time. Those delicious treats are now sitting on the edge of my desk calling my name. I opened one box and I thought, Oh, I'll just eat 2. I ate them while I was working and then realized--ACK! I just had five of those EVIL things. I searched my desk frantically for a Walmart sack and sacked those things up. I bought those for M after all and look at me. Evil--just evil!

I got played?
Do you remember when you were a child and you played your parents? Here is an example of what I mean. Let’s say, you wanted to spend the night at your friend’s house. Your parents were in separate rooms, and they are totally engrossed in what they were doing so they weren’t communicating with each other. You told Mom that Dad said it was ok, and you repeat the same to your dad. The first time, or maybe even the first couple of times, this works like a charm. You know you’ve done it. You played one parent against the other to get what you wanted.
I guess this is the age it starts—at least that is what my mother said. She said that Bubba and I both started this fibbing at this age. I also researched on BabyCenter, and it appears fibbing at this age is quite common. So, where is this leading?
Last night, M was so tired. He got up on the bed to eat yogurt with B, and then he tried to get into bed with B & I. He informed me “Daddy said I could.” He then turned to B and said, “Mommy said I could.” Yes, it has already started, only M hasn’t quite grasped that you do it when the other parent isn’t right in the room. I’m sure this has been going on for a while, but last night is the first night I realized it. We finally compromised, allowing him to watch TV with us until bedtime, but we all fell asleep. I guess he got what he wanted, huh?
