Potty Training & Captain Jack

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve written. I’m just entering my second trimester and I’m starting to get my wind back. Thank goodness! For some reason, I have had heartburn very early with this pregnancy, and the doctor ended up prescribing Zantac OTC, and boy, that has made all the difference. Anyway, here is the latest on our front.

We are finally making decent progress on potty training. What we have been doing is buying M a big toy to earn like a new light saber or new ship, etc. and we give him one sticker for each time he goes potty (peeing has never been the problem here) and one sticker for staying dry all day. So on a good day, he earns 3 stickers toward his prize with 20 stickers usually being the earning price. I am happy to say we are having relatively few problems. Yeah! He just might be out of pull-ups before the kiddo arrives in October.

Now for a funny story.

Pepaw has been allowing M to play with a cheap scope he had from a gun. M asked Pepaw where he got the scope, to which Pepaw told him he stole it from a pirate. So, for the last two weeks or so, M has really gotten into playing pirates.

B went to the race in Texas, so it was just M & I last weekend. I took M to Memaw and Pepaw’s to play and visit and we ended up staying overnight. Well by the time we got home Sunday, M was covered in dirt and he had a little accident, so I threw him in the tub. I washed his hair and scrubbed him good and then I went to unload the dishwasher quickly why he played. M got out of the tub and came to me and I noticed the towel I had put out was very wet in spots. I went to hang it up over the shower curtain to dry before I put it in the hamper only to find….

My bathroom floor was covered in water! We have two bathmats in the bathroom. Both had water just running off of them when I pulled them up. I threw those in the laundry basket and took them to the washer. I had to use three more bath towels to clean up the water on the floor. The standing water in the laundry basket required another bath towel. It turns out my wonderful little boy thought he was Captain Jack and the boat, er, tub in the case, was taking on too much water. He bailed water into my bathroom floor using the cup we use to rinse his hair.

I was upset at the time, but it was truly funny. What an imagination!
